Philodendron Neon Heartleaf: Your Most Obedient Houseplant

Philodendron Neon Heartleaf

Want to keep a small bunch of beautiful leaves on your office desk where the sunlight is not so bright? I can suggest trying Philodendron Neon Heartleaf. Shortly, we call it Philo Neon. It is one of the most common indoor plants from the philodendron family. And this plant has bright light green leaves with the shape of hearts.

No doubt that a bushy philodendron Neon looks beautiful, even better than a flower bunch. However, in our place, this plant is not very common. But I manage to get a small node from one of my friends and manage to grow it big. But it’s not a busy plant, still, I am happy because it has a lot of healthy leaves.

Philodendron - Heartleaf
Today, I will share my experience of growing the Philo neon nod to a plant. If you love to grow this plant at home, I am sure that my experience will help you a lot. I am not writing by following any other websites, but it is all about my experience. So, you will get to know some accurate information about this plant.

Propagating Philodendron Neon Heartleaf from Cuttings

As I have said, my friend gave me a small node of this plant with only one leaf. And you can see how big it is now in the picture. And it takes 3 months to grow this big for the plant.

However, when I received the cutting of the Philo neon, it had only one node and one leaf. I took a clear glass jar and filled it with pure drinking water.

I placed the jar in a safe place where it had indirect bright sunlight. Then I put the cutting in the jar. The node was under the water but the leaf was not drowned.

I didn’t disturb the plant so much but only changed the water thrice a week. Leave it in the same place and I found small roots within a few days. The roots were 2 inches long within a week. A few days later, I found several roots. There was a new leaf too. And it was the time I should plant it in the soil.

Potting Philodendron Neon Heartleaf

Philodendron 3First, I made the media. I simply used cocopeat, garden soil, a very small amount of fertilizer, and river sand. I mixed them well and put them in a beautiful small pot. Then, I planted the Philo Neon that I was growing in water.

Remember that you have ensured a better drainage system for the plant. You should put some stone on the bottom of the pot and put media on it. So, if it gets extra water, the stone will discharge the water through the pothole.

However, I put the root inside the media and leave the brunch on the ground. Then I set the plant well and water it. After I potted the plant, I kept it inside the room in the indirect sunlight.

Taking Care of Philodendron Neon Heartleaf

Neon HeartleafNow is the most critical part about how to take care of philodendron Neon Heartleaf. Most of the time, the plant dies after potting in the soil. But if you manage to take care of it properly, it will grow endlessly.

However, indirect sunlight is the best thing for growing philodendron Neon Heartleaf. I put the plant in a corner beside the window. And I watered it when the surface is dry. Mostly, I have to water it once every two to three days. Nothing more. But sometimes, I spray water to clean the leaves. And occasionally, I give it some fertilizers like bone powder, potassium, etc.
